L-580 San Diego Megafires Interactive Case Study

posted in: In the News 0

Funding for the development effort of the L-580 project is complete. The San Diego Foundation’s Regional Disaster Fund Board approved a generous donation for the amount needed, and the San Diego Regional Fire Foundation assisted in ensuring that the transaction was proper and transparent.

Resources to launch the project came from the San Diego area, a place with a history of incidents with momentous scope and complexity. The involvement of these agencies and organizations reflects their stake in bringing forward lessons learned.

Our unique public-private coalition builds on this partnership in order to gain support for funding an Alpha program. So far our partnership includes private individuals, small business, utilities, non-profits, and government participation from federal, tribal, state, and local levels.

The following agencies and organizations have provided support for the project:

  • San Diego Foundation
  • San Diego Gas & Electric Company
  • National Wildfire Coordinating Group (L-580 Committee and Leadership Subcommittee)
  • Barona Band of Mission Indians
  • San Diego Fire-Rescue Department
  • San Diego Regional Fire Foundation
