MCS facilitated the intent based planning workshop “Moving IMT Decisions through Intent into Action” at this year’s Colorado AHIMT conference in Keystone, CO. The conference, held on September 18th and 19th, included members from each of Colorado’s local incident management teams. The annual conference provides team members the opportunity to discuss trends, share lessons learned and build relationships with within the state’s IMT community.

The fully attended workshop  focused participants on a set of core processes and principles that promote clear and concise leader’s intent as the foundation for aligned and adaptable action on the incident. During the workshop participants learned frameworks for making decisions concerning incident priorities and worked in teams to build a valid common operating picture, then develop and effectively communicate intent that is both actionable and flexible at the field level.

This workshop leverages emerging thinking in the command aspects of incident management, and includes content from the DHS-010-PREV Incident Leadership program and Intent into Action: Organizational Development for the Command and General Staff.
